Python Job: Tech Lead (Python)

Hiire is helping Paynest hiring a Tech Lead to help them to shape the technology to provide better financial services and financial education to employers and employees.

Paynest and your role:

Paynest is looking to empower employers to build a resilient financial future for every employee. We are looking for a great Tech Lead to lead our technical team and to help us bring this vision to life.

As the Tech Lead reporting directly to the CEO and Co-Founder, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and maintenance of our product, ensuring that it meets the highest standards of quality, performance, and reliability. You will be expected to provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the engineering team, while working closely with other departments to ensure that our technology solutions are aligned with the company's overall goals and objectives.

When it comes to our stack, our core technologies are Python, Django and GraphQL, and it would be nice if you have some of these: TypeScript, React and React Native, Next.js

We also use CI/CD pipelines to test, build and deploy all of our services to our Kubernetes clusters.

Responsibilities:

• Lead Paynest’s engineering team in the development, maintenance, and improvement of the product

• Work closely with our Head of Product to develop and maintain a development roadmap for the engineering team, ensuring that it is aligned with the company's strategic goals and objectives

• Participate in hiring and onboarding the rest of the engineering team as Paynest grows

• Identify and manage technical risks, ensuring that they are addressed proactively

• Define and implement best practices for software development, testing, deployment, and maintenance

• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends, and assess their potential impact on Paynest’s solutions

Job requirements:

Must-Haves

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with around 2 years in a leadership position (tech lead, engineering manager or other).

• Strong leadership skills, with a track record of successfully leading technical teams

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

• Particularly strong experience in back-end and API development

• Fluent in English

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience in Fintech of Financial Services

• Experience with Agile Methodologies and Software Development best practices

• Based in Lisbon
